Environmental Stress
In residential, and architectural window units, there are many thermal and environmental forces that can cause sashes to impart stress on the window units. In the example below, the corner of a window was monitored as the rail and stile of the sash absorbed moisture. The details of the interface caused a stress concentration that led to failure.
