The GFP 2000 sensors are real time, solid state sensors. A kaleidoscopic optic makes several copies of the image on the detector. Each subimage is exposed to a different polarizing optic allowing simulatneous collection of all required images. These “kaleidoscopic” “polariscopes” are often referred to as poleidoscopes.
